Planning to work or study abroad in an English-speaking country? IELTS will help you meet the necessary application requirements for visas, universities and global organisations. When you take IELTS on Computer, you can expect a user-friendly experience designed to help you achieve your goals.
Find out how you can benefit from IELTS in all sections of the test when you book with the British Council.
Listening test
For the Listening Section, the examiner will ensure you have headphones to plug into the computer provided for you to take the test. Use the volume bar in the top right corner of the screen to adjust the volume at any time, ensuring you hear the questions clearly and accurately. If you have any problems with your headphones, simply raise your hand to let the examiner know and they will provide you with a new set.
Reading test
The Reading Section splits the text on the left of the screen and the questions on the right, making it easy to associate the question with the text. When choosing an answer, simply click on your choice. Should you need to change your answer, you can easily do so at any time by clicking on a new choice. If you have any trouble understanding how to input your answers or move back and forth between answers, your examiner will be glad to offer assistance.
Writing test
The Writing Section is split in two parts and can be answered in any order. Your answers are saved automatically and can easily be edited before being submitted should you wish to change your answer. You will also have a word count tool on screen to keep track of how much you write.
Speaking test
The Speaking test will be a natural conversation, lasting only a few minutes. You can expect your examiner to be friendly and approachable, so you can relax and focus on doing your best.
A quiet testing environment
If you are most comfortable in a small test centre environment where you can be focused, IELTS on Computer at our official test centres offers exactly what you need. Taking the test in a calm and controlled atmosphere is ideal for staying focused and reducing nerves on test day.
